The Cloak of Shielding is one of three magical cloaks given out by Valen. This cloak's magical nature gives it a damage reduction value somewhere between leather and chainmail armor of the same level, impressive considering it requires no strength to use. Despite its lack of special bonuses, the cloak's superior defense makes it useful for low-strength characters even into the later levels, if even just as insurance for when a battle starts to go wrong.
